Just like most other good incremental RPGs, in Hero Wars you're just a spectator. Battles unfold automatically, although you have the ability to influence the battle by clicking on your heroes' icons to activate their special abilities if they are fully recharged. For each battle won, you get coins and materials that can be invested in improving the characteristics of your heroes or creating new, more powerful equipment.

As you progress through the story of Hero Wars, you will be able to access new heroes to help you on your adventure. Purchasing new heroes is crucial when going through the most difficult sections of the game, as the characters you started out with will become completely useless in the future.
